While
I’ve been off sick I’ve been thinking of ways to organize and improve my ‘lower
studio’ (aka the basement) where I make cards, scrapbook, paint and do mixed
media work. One of the things that frustrate me is ribbon storage. I have a ton
of ribbon. I had a lot to begin with and then a friend of mine was at a garage
sale and a lady was selling a HUGE box of ribbon, in containers, for $10 so she
bought it for me hoping I would want it. I did. I wouldn’t have stuck her with
it at any rate but the ribbon is gorgeous. However, the containers annoyed me.
They were the flip top kind with a hinge that locks that originally had gourmet
jelly beans in them but they were top heavy and kept falling over as soon as I
opened them….and they didn’t fit well together because of the hook latch. So,
coming home from our very short road trip yesterday I had Joe stop at the
Dollar Tree and I bought flat plastic boxes that I can store three deep and I
transferred all the ribbon. Love it! For one thing I no longer have to pull out
all the ribbon to see what’s on the bottom. So, if you are thinking of ribbon
storage, think flat, not tall and round.
I
checked out some card challenges and I’ve decided to enter my card into these
two challenges.

(a card with snow)
Luckily I’ve been able to colour while I’ve
been sick so it only takes a few minutes to whip up a card once the colouring
is done. As usual, the image was coloured with Prismacolor pencils and blended
with gamsol. The dies used are Spellbinders. All the paper is from my stash.
The writing on the beige paper is the same colour as the snowflake wine paper
but I don’t think it come in the same pack. The solid cardstock definitely didn’t
come with any pack. The beige piece was trimmed to fit the snowflake paper and
both of these were glued to the wine card base. The large die was cut from the
same cardstock as the card base. Even the ribbon is from my stash and likewise
the small silver bell glued under the bow. One more Christmas card finished!
And that’s all for a very windy, cool and rainy (off and on) Thursday.
Cheers
Violet
What a great job of coloring this sweet little miss, Violet! I love the papers and colors! I'm glad you are feeling better and shared with us at Merry Monday!
ReplyDeleteLovely card Violet, pretty colours. Sorry to hear you've been sick. Thanks for playing at Merry Monday.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're feeling better and your ribbon idea sounds brilliant! One of the things I love about digital images is the ability to take them anywhere and color or when we're not feeling well we can curl up and color. I did a lot of that when I broke my foot. Your card is adorable!! I love your coloring and the image is super sweet! Thanks for joining us this week at Christmas Card Challenges.
ReplyDeleteI have a problem with ribbon too!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering our Anything Goes Challenge at Christmas Card Challenges!
