Well
this was a wet and cold weekend and today was only slightly better. Needless to
say we didn’t get any birding in (as in bird watching or in my case bird
photography). The birding season only lasts about 3 weeks here, starting around
May 1st. That’s when the warblers and other song birds arrive in Canada from the Southern States; Mexico and South America .
No one knows why they fly all the way up here to breed but we are so grateful
that they do. Yesterday we decided we just didn’t want yet another day sitting in
the house so we braved the mist, drizzle and light fog and went to Port Huron , Michigan
to stock up on our vegetarian food that we cannot buy here. It was actually a
good day.
Over
the weekend I managed to put together this card for our youngest son’s birthday
that’s coming up real soon. I had the frog coloured already so it was a quick
card to make.
First
thing was to add Glossy Accents to the frog and set him aside to dry. Frogs just have to be shiny! Then I took
a piece of that bright green cardstock and ran it through the Cuttlebug
birthday embossing folder. A piece of white cardstock was run through as well
and set aside. Then a circle was cut out in the green piece with a Spellbinder’s
die and a piece of left over paper was inserted behind it. I wanted the green
frog to jump off the page so he had to have a light background. He was added
with dimensional glue strips. Then one piece of the embossed white cardstock
was cut out and a green ink was sponged just over the top of the embossed
areas. It didn’t photograph well and looks nicer in person but it is already in
the mail so I couldn’t retake the picture. A strip of the left over piece of
the paper behind the die cut circle was trimmed like a banner, edges inked and
glued on. Then the embossed, inked greeting was added. He’s turning six so I
think he will like it okay.
That’s
all for a cool, damp Monday, May-02-16
Cheers
Violet
