Silver
Bells is one of my favourite Christmas carols!! So, when I happened to notice
that the Merry Monday’s challenge was to make a card featuring a Christmas
carol I knew I had to play along. Here’s the challenge: http://merrymondaychristmaschallenge.blogspot.ca/2016/03/merry-monday-198-christmas-carolscome.html
And it also met the requirements for this challenge: http://hjcchallenge.blogspot.ca/2016/03/68-use-your-stash.html?showComment=1459550632096#c2718164838144924593

I
just happened to have ordered the Stampin’ Up die and stamp set of the
Christmas ornaments and they came in just in time for me to make this card.
The
background piece is just a piece of thin cardstock that was just plain blue –
pretty, but plain. So first I used another Stampin’ Up stamp and stamped a
floral design using Distress Ink Tumbled Glass for a tone on tone look. Then I
added some small dots in white (another Stampin’ Up stamp – I ordered a few
things to take advantage of their Sell-A-Bration sale) to make snowflakes. They
don’t show up in the photo but they are there. The whitish glitter paper behind
the one ornament is from my stash. The silver paper came from The Dollar Tree
except for the shiny one in the round ornament. That is a piece of holographic
wrapping paper that I glued to some thin cardstock and then die cut it……very,
very shiny. the hangers are left-over bits of silver peel-offs. I wanted the
ornaments to hang from tree branches but green ones just didn’t look right. So
I went with white cardstock and they were die cut with the Tim Holtz die and
after everything was glued on I added some silver glue here and there on the
branches. Again, they don’t show up well in the photograph. I just hand wrote
the title using a Stampin’ Up silver pen.
One
more Christmas card done. It’s going to be rain and more rain and even some
snow showers for the next several days so really not feeling like spring yet.
Two of our neighbours have cut their lawns already but I think Joe’s waiting
for the ground to dry up a bit first.
That’s all for a wet Friday, April-01-16.
Cheers
Violet
What a lot of beautiful silver here, Violet! Love the subtle stamping and white glittery branch! Thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday!

Love your card Violet. I've thought of getting a die like that for Christmas ornaments but hasn't happened yet... I have to tell you 'Silver Bells' is one of my all time favorite carols. While my daughter was being born they had Christmas music piped into the Delivery Room and the Doctor and all the nurses were singing Silver Bells while she was born... Its a lovely memory.. :) Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely card. I like the colors you chose. Blue and silver go together so well. Thanks so much for joining us this week at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenge.
