A Fold Out Card

Today it actually feels like May! The sun is shining and the wind is light and not nearly as cold. This weekend coming up is Canada’s long weekend for the spring known as Two-4 because it used to always fall on the 24th of May. It actually started out being called Victoria Day to honour Queen Victoria but somehow along the way, it got changed to Two-4 or 2-4, depending on who’s writing about it. And for once the weather is supposed to (emphasis on ‘supposed to’) stay nice and sunny with temps in the high 60’s or even 70’s at the lake, even hotter in the city.

Today was yard work and grass cutting day. Yikes, the muscles I used this morning digging and weeding in the garden are not ready for physical labour yet….I’m taking it slow so I don’t hurt myself too much. Obviously the quilting muscles get used more than gardening ones all winter.

Today’s card was made with my Stampin’ Up die. Here is the front of the card folded up for mailing.

This die cuts and scores for a fold out card. The front was covered with double sided cardstock, using both sides throughout the card. For the front label I simply stamped the sentiment and then the scrolls….it looks crooked but its not- it’s the camera angle again and the card is partly opened. Here’s the inside of the card.

I cheated a bit on the sentiment for the inside of the card as the sentiment was die cut from an old greeting card. In fact, the purple was the inspiration for the colours for the rest of the card. The die itself if used as directed does not have that extra piece at the end so there is really no place to write a greeting so I cut a longer piece of cardstock than required and I cut the width the exact size to fit into the die and the extra piece if brought to the top so it does not get cut…..but it leave a slight score line so I know where to fold it. Then I just add some white paper – which had the edges inked to that part for a hand-written greeting. The poppies were die cut with a Memory Box die – one of my all time favourites – and they were die cut from the same cardstock as the front label. I added some glitter to them and it looks like a lot in the photo as the camera really picked it up but it is not nearly that bright in real life.

Quilt meeting tonight! I missed last month because of my respiratory bug so I’m looking forward to going tonight. That’s all for a sunny Wednesday,

Cheers

Violet
