Last Weekend of the Summer

This was a busy day! My friend who does day care had a doctor’s appointment this morning so I filled in for her. I’ve done this many times since her husband died and she is alone without back-up. The parents are fine with me being there. After lunch I decided to make cabbage soup…..lots and lots of chopping and stirring. Joe always makes the comment that the pot I use must have come from an army’s kitchen because it is so big. I’ve had it for so many years I have no idea where I got it from – it’s old but serviceable so I’m keeping it. While I was waiting for the soup to cook I made some of the BBQ food for tomorrow too.

Today’s card is one that is made up of left-over’s and yet I don’t think it looks that way at all.

The green was run through an embossing folder and then a white ink pad was lightly rubbed over the top. The white border is actually two die cuts from a Memory Box die and glued side by side. The flowers are another Memory Box die and they were die cut twice; once in green and once in yellow. The edges of the yellow ones were sponged with Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade; cut from the stems and glued on top of the green leaves and stems. Because the flowers were yellow I searched for a piece of yellow paper in the stash and glued it to the green and then added a gold peel-off line down the seam. The sentiment is also a gold peel-off. I rather like how this one turned out.

That’s all for a lovely Friday, 2016-09-02. Have a wonderful weekend everyone. This is the last weekend of the summer- boo hoo – so I hope you enjoy every minute of it.

Cheers

Violet
