More Christmas Birds

We had a wet and windy weekend once again.

Saturday was such a dull dreary day I took this photo of a crow in a tree one street over from us…while standing at our back door…and it looks like it was converted to black and white…but it was not.

I had just taken that shot when another crow landed in the same tree so I took it too….I like the single crow shot the best.

  

I’m thinking of printing it off for a scrapbook layout background or Halloween card. A friend of mine saw it and suggested it would be good for a sympathy card as well….I’m not convinced of that…seems a bit sinister instead of comforting. We shall see.

This morning we bundled up and went for just over an hour walk and when there was a wind gust…brrr but without the gust, it was quite nice…right around the freezing mark….which is considered “nice” for Canadian winter weather!

I had a question about the Christmas hat’s lights – oh yes, they did indeed light up. They were battery operated and I hid the battery box under some of the flowers. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, scroll down to the previous post.

And now for the card!  

These are more of the free digital birds I found on the Internet. The birds were coloured with pencils; blended with gamsol…as per usual; and then flocking was added to the hat brim and pompom. For the frame I set two Spellbinder dies together on my Big Shot magnetic platform….love, love, love this platform… and ran it through. Using the magnetic platform keeps the dies in place so you get an even frame.

The background paper is from the stash and it was cut 5" x 5" to mount on the same blue as the frame which was cut 5¼” square to go on the 5 ½” white card. A piece of ribbon was run through the middle and glued to the back before gluing it to the card base.   

The sentiment was die cut using Tim Holtz winter sentiments. The cardstock was cut 1 ¼” and run through a small Xyron thing before die cutting. That way I just peel of the backing and the letters are ready to stick down….so much easier than trying to put dots of glue on them. Once it was glued to the card base I added all the gem stones!
