A Cheery Card

Brrrrr. Winter does not want to go away at all. Very cold this morning and the wind is making it seem even colder. It’s hard to believe that the first baseball game of the year starts in about two weeks…..opening day could be a bit chilly!

Today’s card was made by laying water colour paper on smeared and splattered ink. It turned out pretty bright so I made it into a thinking of you card. Hopefully it would cheer the receiver up!

For the background I just smeared some yellow and orange ink onto a plastic sheet and sprayed it with water. Then I ran my finger through it a couple of times to spread it around a bit. Then laid the water colour paper on top and twisted; dried it and repeated it until I liked the end result. This one turned out brighter than I thought it would so I sponged some darker Distress ink around the edges. It was die cut with a Spellbinder’s die and then mounted on black cardstock….and yes, I die cut another shape out of the middle of the black for another project! Why waste it when it’s hidden! Then I stamped the poppies and sentiment in black. These are from a JustRite stamp set. The black border was die cut with a Spellbinders die. Once I liked it, it was mounted on the yellow card base and the peel-off sentiment was added.

That’s all for a cold Wednesday, March 14, 2018.

Cheers

Violet

  1. A cold morning 29F turned into a beautiful sunny warmish day..60F I spent some time raking pine needles.. and moving some rocks...

I don't play with the Distress Inks too much anymore.. I don't like that they are never permanent.. But i sure love what you did to the background for your card. Really pretty Violet. And the darker edges and the black really set it off.. Beautiful. Hugs! deb
