The heat wave continues! It felt like 111F over
the weekend and over 100F this afternoon. We opted to go to Lake
Erie one day and along St. Clair River the next and as long as we
were in the shade by the water, it was lovely…..and then we came back to the
city – yikes! What a difference. Here’s a funny comic that has been floating
around Facebook this week.
Love it. Today
and until this heat wave breaks, I’m thinking we are just staying in the A/C!
Yesterday was Canada Day! Unfortunately, this year
my daughters were both busy so it was just Joe and I to celebrate it which we
did with a BBQ at the river. When I got home I quickly did a digital scrapbook
page with the few photos I took and then I’ll put it on a 12x12 paper later
with embellishments, of course, for a complete scrapbook layout. Here’s the
digital layout.....the BBQ lunch was veggie chick'n scaloppini, baked potatoes and roasted carrots...all on our small portable BBQ.
Darn, I forgot to remove my glasses again. I have the ones that turn into sunglasses automatically and always forget to remove them. Oh well.
Today I’m also posting a card that I made that was
more finicky that I usually do but in the end I liked it.
I had a piece of cardstock laying on my desk that
had multiple colours sponged on it….Distress Ink I think. I’m not sure what I
was planning on doing with it but obviously the original idea didn’t happen. So
I decided I had to use it or toss it and decided they would make pretty flowers
so I brought out a very old Die-namites die….no I didn’t spell it wrong, it is
Die-namites. I won some of their dies from a blog contest they had. So I first
die cut the flowers out of that dark green and then again from the coloured
cardstock.
I removed the green petals and glued the green
outline on the yellow cardstock. Then I had to pick out
each flower petal from the coloured cardstock and glue it into the correct
place….every little piece….and the middle of the leaves. I’m more of quick and
easy card maker….except for colouring stamped images which I do while I watch
TV…..so this took a little more time than I expected but in the end I liked it.
I decided it needed something else so I glued on the sequins; bow and pearl.
The sentiment started out silver but I wanted it red so I went over it with a
dark red alcohol marker. Once everything was dry it was glued to a card base.
That’s all for a hot and humid Monday, July 2,
2018.
Cheers
Violet
