Is it Friday? With New Years Day being
on a Tuesday, it felt like a Sunday; that coupled with the fact that we cannot
get rid of this cold virus so we are very tired, we both are having trouble
figuring out what day it is! Maybe we’re just easily confused…..or it’s a senior’s
retirement thing! Anyway, I did finally figure out it was Friday and time for another
posting.
I thought I would shake things up a bit
and post a quilt today instead of a card. This quilt was made for my oldest
grandson who is in university. When I asked him what his favourite colour was
he said, “black” (groan)….but then added….”and red”….okay, black and red I can do.
I started collecting black and red;
black and white; and black and grey fabric…some dark, some medium, some light
in colour….the usual fabric required to make a quilt interesting…especially a
scrappy quilt.
This quilt was so much work but mainly because the
pattern said to press all seams open….in quilting, we almost always press to
one side. I’ll never, ever do this again. I have enough fabric in various
shades of brown to make another one, but I will be pressing to the side.
Here’s Joven looking at his quilt. He really liked it.
And here he is holding it up….sticking
his head out the side….always the joker.
That’s all for a lovely mild Friday,
January 4, 2019…..can’t believe how mild it is here – around 8C which is 46F. Incredibly
mild for January in Canada …..but
I’m not complaining. I hope it stays like this until spring! I’ll be back on
Monday with another card. I treated myself to a few….okay a lot…of new dies so
lots of new card designs coming.
Cheers
Violet
