A Lighthouse Card

Summer has officially arrived in Ontario! We even had to turn the A/C on last night and it won’t be going off for a few days because it is going to be very hot and humid…..that’s okay, that’s the way we like it!

I didn’t need to make any family birthday cards but I do like escaping to the lower studio (aka the basement) where I make cards, scrapbook and paint whenever I have a few minutes. I had a huge stack of backgrounds made using strips of left over paper and decided to use them up….no more letting things sit around…well, that’s today’s vow anyway. I’m making a stack of ‘thinking of you’ cards to donate to the hospice. They send out a card to family members on the one year anniversary of their loved one’s death at the hospice. Here’s one of them.

I decided to make one suitable to be sent to a man. The background is simply left over bits of paper and cardstock in various widths glued to a piece of scrap paper. Then it’s trimmed to size and run through an embossing folder to really seal it. The lighthouse (Stampin’ UP) was stamped on a piece of white cardstock and then the water, sky, sand and some grasses were added. It was then framed in brown cardstock and then the light blue and glued to the background base. Before gluing it to the card base itself, brown baker’s twine was wrapped around it. The sentiment is a peel-off.

That’s all for a hot and humid Wednesday, June 26, 2019.

Cheers

Violet
