From Scraps to a Card

It appeared to be another nice day today so we took a chance and went to Point Pelee National Park….for the first time this year. We have an annual pass for this park as well but with Joe fighting medical issues for almost 5 months, we have not had a chance to go. It was beautiful. Most of the monarchs have migrated already but we did see one tree with about 40 or 50 roosting and several others just arriving at the park. They rest there before flying across Lake Erie to Ohio and then on to Mexico. Joe cannot walk as far as we used to but he did pretty well for someone still in the recovery stage.

Today’s card was made with some left over scraps from making those frog cards. Instead of adding them to the scrap pile, I made another card.

I taped the green at the bottom left to the piece on the right but it didn’t go all the way to the top so I added another left over piece from the same paper pack on the top left. Then I added the strip across the seam. The flowers were die cut from white cardstock and inked with Distress ink but the stems and leaves turned out pretty ugly so I cut them off the flowers; re-cut them out of green cardstock (same as the bottom left) and glued the flower heads back on. Then I decided they needed some glitz so glitter was added. They were glued in place and then I added that glitter thread bow and stitched butterfly. ….. and then the die cut sentiment…all dies are unbranded ones from Aliexpress. But, it needed something green on the right to balance it …..but it had to be small….so I die cut more of these small butterflies and added them – worked! Once everything was dry it was glued to a green card base.

        That’s all for a lovely Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

 Cheers

Violet
