It’s another Friday which means another week has
come and gone. They are putting in high fibre optic cables in most of the
streets in Chatham
and because we live right by the intersection, our lawn has had the most
construction. It’s a mess! And this week they had a machine running from
morning until 5:00 and the high pitched sound irritated my brain disorders so
it has not been a pleasant week again. Luckily I could barely hear it in the
sewing room so two guess what I did this week! If you guessed quilting, you
only needed one guess…..and I didn’t mind being stuck in there!
This is a long weekend in
I’ve also been busy making Christmas cards and then it dawned on me that I have to get the grandkids Halloween cards and bookmarks made too. Yipes! How did it get to be so close to Halloween already! And one grandson has a birthday near the end of October so I guess I should put the Christmas stash away now.
But until then, here’s another Christmas card.
I bought a die and stamp set from Aliexpress that
included this sled, skies and a snow shoes plus some other goodies. As soon as I saw it, it brought back memories from using a sled like that when I was a child. I wasn’t
sure what to do with them so I die cut the sleigh twice from brown cardstock
and glued them together. To add some interest I sponged some Walnut Distress
Ink around the edges and added the jute rope. As I was flipping through my 6” paper
packs I spotted this ‘Let It Snow’ paper and decided it was perfect for this
card. It was quickly cut down to fit the standard 4.25 x 5.5 card base and
glued on. Then the ‘happy winter’ sentiment was die cut from white cardstock
(another Aliexpress die) and I hand cut the snow bank leaving the word ‘winter’
attached…. the ‘happy’ die cut separately anyway so it was easy to add it where
ever I wanted it…it was die cut twice and glued together.
Then the snow bank was glued on around the edges
and bottom which left the top free so I could pop the sleigh in. The wreath stamp
and matching die and the bow were also part of this set so I glued one on to
the sleigh. Then I decided the snow bank needed some glitter so I ran a glitter
pen back and forth for some shimmer…..and called it finished.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone and if you are Canadian, Happy Thanksgiving. Be thankful for every day because every day this side of the dirt is a good one and there is always something to be thankful for….sometimes you have to search for it, but its there…so never stop searching.
Cheers
Violet
