Masculine Sympathy Card

It looks like we are in for a very wet few days with a lot of rain predicted to fall….but just east and north of us it is a little cooler and they could get some freezing rain – nasty stuff. I hate winter weather.

Late last fall the wife of one of Joe’s friends died. Joe had been friends with him and his son for decades and of course we wanted to send him and his son each a sympathy card….usually I make the cards; give Joe several to choose from and he picks out the one or ones he likes the best. This time he had trouble picking them because he felt they were better suited to be sent to women, not men. The son was married so he had no trouble with that card but the one to Ken was difficult. No problem, I just went down to the lower studio (aka the basement) and made a masculine sympathy card. Then I got to thinking that I should have more of those on hand so I made a few. This is one of them.

The lighthouse is from an old stamp set no longer available. I stamped it on grey paper and decided not to add any colour. The birds are from another set. Then I mounted it on brown; then on a darker patterned brown and then on to the grey card base. The rope at the bottom of the larger piece was die cut out of the same brown as the first brown layer. The sentiment was then stamped and embossed.

That’s all for a rainy Friday, January 10, 2020. Have a wonderful, safe and creative weekend everyone. I’ll be back on Monday with another card.

Cheers

Violet
