a Feather Card

Well this COVID-19 virus has really taken over the world. My heart breaks for those affected or have family members affected. We are doing the self-isolation bit and I wish everyone would. Some people just don’t realize how dangerous going about their everyday routine is.

Today’s card is one that almost didn’t happen. I attempted to make a background using an old multi-coloured ink pad and it just looked awful – I think it was the paper or a combination of wrong paper and ink – but at any rate, it was ugly. It sat on my table for a few days – got thrown out – retrieved – thrown out – retrieved and I finally decided it absolutely had to save it….and no, I have no idea why, I just did.
So the first thing I did was to grab my trusty Distress Inks and went to work sponging on various inks. I believe the first ink pad I used was a pigment ink pad and then I put Distress Ink over top and it tamed the blotchy finish but left great texture.  Okay, what next. I decided it looked like a masculine birthday card so I die cut some feathers from various cardstock, some which I dipped in ink, and glued them together and then onto the card. Then I wrapped some twine around the card and through a paper button (3 layers) and taped the twine at the back so it won’t move. The sentiment was die cut twice and glued together – it is not that peach colour in real life. Then I mounted it on a blue card base. I like it and glad I saved it now!
         That’s all for Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
Cheers
Violet
