Crazy Bird Card

The heat wave continues with temperatures around 100F and more with the humidity. Last night we had rain clouds; thunder and a bit of lightning…..and not a drop of rain. Someone got it, but not us. The grass is crunchy when we walk on it and we are under a watering limiting ban – houses whose address ends with even numbers can water on even number days and then those with uneven numbers do it on the uneven days.

There is still a need for scrub hats and masks so I’m back to making them….in between making Christmas quilts and charity quilts….busy, busy, busy…just the way I like it.

Today’s card was made with some left over bits from a card I made for yet another grandson whose birthday is coming up later this month. Our family has four birthdays in July!

My grandson’s favourite colour is green so I made two green card bases; one for his card and one for this one. The strip with the stars was left over from his card with the star already die cut leaving the negative space. A coordinating piece of paper was glued behind it and then I die cut a yellow star frame to go around it. The birthday sentiment was die cut three times and glued together to make it thicker. It and the rope were die cut from the same yellow as the star frame. The bird is a Tim Holtz crazy bird that was quickly coloured with Distress Ink sponged on. Then it was die cut with the matching die. The beak and eyes were stamped and die cut; the beak was coloured with more ink and then glued in place. It doesn’t show on the photo but in real life it does make a difference. The bird needed something to stand on so I hand cut a banner and stamped that funny sentiment that came from a Power Poppy flower set. Not sure who’s going to receive this one yet, but I like it.

That’s all for a hot and humid Wednesday, on July 8, 2020.

Cheers

Violet
