Top Hat Skull

Looks like our very unseasonal warm temperatures have come to and end. We just had two days of rain and thunderstorms off and on and now the temperatures are back to more seasonal levels - boo! I’m not ready for the cold weather - but then again, I never am.

There has been lots of photos posted on the Internet with the front porches elaborately decorated for fall. I don’t do much fall decorating (a bit more for Halloween though) but my friend gave me a gourd a couple of weeks ago and set it on a table on the front porch. I decided to have some fun with friends and posted “my fall decorations”. It got a good laugh. Here it is.

I have a few more Halloween cards to post. They are all finished and in the mail and I’m now working on Christmas cards.

Here’s the card for one of my grandsons.

The background was made with alcohol inks.  I had some left over on the felt from making another background and didn’t want to waste it so I ran stripes across another piece of glossy cardstock and quite liked it so I kept going until the card was full.

Of course it wasn’t grungy enough so I used Stazon black ink along the edges and then smeared some here and there on the background itself. Much better. The background was then glued to a black card base. The spider web was die cut and glued to the top left corner.

The skull and hat are an old Tim Holtz stamp that I stamped and then cut out by hand. I used a red alcohol pen to colour the eyes. It  was popped up on the page with a piece of black foam that I cut out using the skull and hat as a template. Using foam keeps it flat in the mail. The bow die is from another stamp set and it is popped up as well. The little sentiments were stamped and heat embossed on white; cut apart and glued on.

That’s all for a cool and wet Saturday, October 16, 2021.

Cheers

Violet
