Pink Rose Get Well Card

What strange weather we are having this year. Last week it was bitter cold, today it's 8C which is about 47F. Sunday night we got off the train to a raging snow storm, then we had some freezing rain overnight which made everything wet, cold and slushy yesterday. I did get the church and got more material cut out ready to sew for the next time we meet. It was so foggy I left early, grabbed some much needed fresh fruit and veggies from Sobey's and headed for home. Overnight we had teeming rain, and again this morning and this afternoon. Not a lick of snow left except a bit where it was piled up. More rain expected for the next couple of days too and even warmer temperatures. Welcome to winter in Southern Ontario.

If you follow my blog you will know by now that I have two rare brain disorders and they do not like fluctuating weather or atmospheric pressure changes. So last night I knew something was brooding but I went to bed (and went to bed early) prepared to go to the Y for Aqua Fit in the morning. Trouble was I woke up at 11:45 a.m. thinking it was morning. Oh no, not again. Sure enough the brain disorders attacked just enough that I couldn't go back to sleep. I read for awhile, turned off the light, still awake, got up and wandered around the house a bit, went back to bed, still not sleeping, read again, and on and on. Then I decided to just lay real still and maybe do the counting thing. Well, again, if you follow my blog you will recall that the brain disorders affect my speech almost all the time and while I'm under attack, it affects my speech big time. So, I started to count to my self; 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, eightakaba, 9. Whoa, what was that? Eightakaba? Start again, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, eightakaba, (oh boy, just ignore it and continue) 9, 10, elevenabaka, 12,13,14,15,16,17, eighteenakaba, 19,20. OK, try again! Nope, still the same thing. Again. Nope, not working. By this time I'm really laughing. Well, you know what they say, 'laughter is the best medicine', which I agree with but it is not a good sleep aid. By the time I tried counting five or six times I was laughing so hard I turned the light back on read some more. Long night! I turned the alarm off at 3:00 because I knew Aqua Fit was a no-go.

But I do have a card to show you.

Not sure where I got this little rose stamp from because I've had it for a long time, and I don't use it often enough. I like combing non-traditional colour combinations so I chose blue and pink this time. The blue and pink paper is once again from the stash. Oval was cut with a Spellbinder die. I decided I wanted the water colour look so I used my water colour pencil crayons to outline  the image and just wet them to spread it around. I die cut the little tag with a ProvoCraft die and added the peel-and-stick sentiment and the ribbon. The polka dot strip across the the blue was needed to break up the vertical lines. I stitched around the white oval and the blue rectangles with shiny blue thread for a little added touch.
