Hoot Hoot Hooray!

We’re still enjoying above average temperatures here in Ontario. I’ve been waiting for a hard frost so I can prune the roses and dig up the gladiolus bulbs but we haven’t had one yet. The roses have not been dead-headed since the last week of August which is the proper time to stop dead-heading them. That way they will form rose hips which tell the rose to get ready for winter. Well it’s been so warm that the roses have both rose hips and buds on them. Crazy weather has even upset the roses. So I think tomorrow they are going to be pruned and covered with dirt, ready or not. I’m not doing it when it gets cold and stays cold which is what I’m afraid is going to happen.

Tonight was quilt guild night and the talent in that guild is amazing. I’m no way near their level of expertise but I sure enjoy seeing their work. So it’s after 10:00 pm here and I’m just posting my card for the day. Better late than never I guess. This card was made using two of the small stamps from Paper Wishes which is Hot Off the Press.

 

I stamped the pumpkin right on the piece of white cardstock and coloured it with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. It was then die cut with a Spellbinder’s rectangle die and glued to the designer paper. The owl was stamped on some scrap white cardstock, coloured and cut out and attached with dimensional glue dots. There is light blue chalk around the stamped items. Then the strip was added to ground the picture so it didn’t look like it was floating. The top sentiment “Hoot Hoot Hooray!” came with the owl stamp. The lower one came from another HOtP set of Birthday sayings. Together they made a great sentiment for this child’s birthday card. It was die cut with one of the small Spellbinder’s die and mounted on orange cardstock. I thought this would be a great card for a boy or girl with a fall birthday.
