A Christmas Card Challenge Card

What a beautiful day it was here in Ontario…close to 80F and no cold wind for once. First thing this morning a friend of mine who does day care called and said she was taking the kids in a wagon for a walk downtown and if she came by my house would I walk with her? “Sure,” I said, “I would love to”. Joe walks slowly and I’m a bit faster than him but my friend power walks. Whew! I was tired by the time we got home and instead of doing some gardening I just washed the outside bay window. After lunch I did get work on the Halloween costumes and I have a quilt ready to be pinned together tonight. Busy day once again.

Today’s card was inspired by this blog challenge picture: http://alwaysplayingwithpaper.blogspot.ca so I’m entering it into the challenge. But as I checked the other challenges it also qualified for these ones:

It seldom works out that one card fits that many challenges but it did this time.

I liked the bright pink and blue in the photo challenge so I went with that but added the shiny purple because it matched the purple in the background paper – from an old 6” paper pack. There is blue in the background too and I happen to have some blue cardstock that matched it. The tree was stamped on water colour paper with Distress Ink - Warm Lipstick (spritzed it with water before stamping) – and then I added a bit of Wink of Stella to it as well. The silver lines on the tree were added with a silver gel pen. The snowflakes dots were created with Stickles. The fancy labels were die cut with two Spellbinder die sets. I added a few gems as well and the sentiment is a peel-off. This card took me so long because I was trying to get the tree to fit into the oval and for it to fit into that fancy frame. At first I had a blue frame and purple inset but didn’t like it so I reversed it. I shouldn't experiment when I'm tired!

That’s all for a sunny Tuesday, September-22-15

Cheers

Violet

I cannot say enough how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE what you have done with the tree image - the coloring is fantastic and looks really festive despite the modern take with the pinks and purples! WOW!
