An Aniversary Card with Butterflies

Another gorgeous busy day! This morning we decided to head out to Port Stanley to see a comedy at their playhouse and it was worth the trip...hilarious play. Instead of heading straight home after the show we decided to walk the newly renovated and just opened pier. Okay we were not dressed for walking along the beach and out the pier but can’t say it really bothered me. Better to walk the beach dressed up than go the theatre in beach wear! It was hot in Port Stanley and there were scads of people sunbathing and even swimming. Amazing weather for mid September.

Needless to say we were late getting home and by the time we grabbed a quick bite to eat and showered the night was pretty much over – so a late post once again.

This is another anniversary card.

More paper from an old 6” paper pack with ¼” trimmed off each side. This time only the borders were printed and the middle was blank except for some tone-on-tone grid around the outside edge, fading to nothing towards the centre. So, the first thing I did was die cut the Memory Box butterfly border from white cardstock and brushed light ink over it to give it some colour. (I told my friend it was chalk when she was here but I think it was ink – I make things up as I go and I sometimes use chalk, sometimes ink and never remember to write down what I do) The filigree butterflies were definitely inked with Distress Ink Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade and maybe a little Wild Honey.  The labels were cut with Spellbinder dies using some patterned paper from the same paper pack along with some from my stash that matched. When I first started card making, I bought quite a few 6” paper packs when they were on sale at the Paper Pickle and Michaels so I’m determined to actually use them and not hoard them!

That’s all for a lovely Thursday…..rain predicted for tomorrow and Saturday though.

Cheers

Violet

  1. Gosh another 90 degree day here but the last for a while.. 77 tomorrow and rain expected tonite..yeah!! So funny how weather on the internet and the weatherman on tv differ in their forecast... so i guess we'll just wait and see what happens..lol

Violet i love the color you achieved on your butterflies!! That combination is just delish!!! I want some distress ink when i open shop in my craftroom ... i have some of the Dylusion sprays but i want some of the pads too... Do you have the larger pads or the small ones... would you recommend one over the other for any reason?? Also have you used the Distressed Glaze i think its called? Its a clear coating you rub on (like wax i think) to make the distress inks more permanent..? Hugs! deb
