Pop and Twist Cards

Yesterday was a bitter cold day so we skipped the walk but today was much milder so we opted to walk through the bush again. We normally walk an hour at least 4 mornings a week….some mornings, like this morning, we have to give ourselves a pep talk and have to make ourselves leave the house…..sometimes attitude counts; sometimes not…you just do it.

Today I’m posting the first of three twist and pop cards I made last weekend for my three youngest grandsons. These are interesting to make but they take a long time to complete….like four hours per card. I kid you not. By the time you do all the cutting and scoring and then stamping and colouring and figuring out how to put it all together….yeah, four hours easily….or maybe that’s just me?

First, here’s a short video I shot of the cards opening up.

Now here is a close-up of some of the features of the card.

This is the front of the card. It just looks like a regular card but it is a bit thicker when you are holding it. The image came from a 6” paper pack that was cut down to 4.25 x 5.5. The strip across the bottom came from another pack. The snowflakes are old foam ones from the dollar store…although I did see they were back at Dollorama last week…but they were a bit blah looking to me so I covered them with glitter glue and set them aside to dry. The ‘let it snow’ sentiment was die cut twice; glued on top of each other and then onto the card front.

Here is the inside of the card opened up. Forgive the quality of the photos as I was holding it open while taking the picture with the other hand.

These are the images on the inside on the left side of the pop out part.

The elf was stamped with a very old dollar stamp from Paper Wishes as was the sentiment and stars that came with it. The snowman is from ??? I think Inkadinkado but not sure. The snowflakes were stamped in light blue on all the cards and then the same blue was watered down and spread under the images to ground them. The images were all coloured with markers.

Here are the ones on the right.

The snowmen are from an unmarked set I picked up at the thrift store a couple of years ago and never used…until now. The penguin and sentiment are from another Paper Wishes dollar stamp. I used to buy a lot from them but they changed their policies shipping to Canada and they lost my business.
There are lots of videos on YouTube about how to make these but some are even more difficult than these ones were.

That’s all for a mild Friday, November 23, 2018. Have a wonderful and safe weekend everyone. I’ll be posting another twist and pop card on Monday.

Cheers

Violet

PS: To save a card to your Pinterest account, simply hover over the image until the ‘Pin It” symbol appears and then click…it sometimes take a few seconds. This will take you to your own Pinterest account to save the card.
