It is freezing cold here today - -7C (19F) but feels like -17C (1.4F) with the wind blowing. I think tomorrow will be a wee bit warmer. However, once again we got off easy because only a couple hours drive from here; they have white-out conditions from the snow squalls. White-out conditions are always hazardous and there are many serious accidents because a) people cannot see very far ahead and b) they won’t slow down!
Today I’m posting two cards because they were both made the same; but using different images.
I previously posted a ‘wiper’ card that I made for our youngest grandson. Joe wasn’t sure that the next two older boys would appreciate a wiper card but I decided they were getting one anyway. Here is Seth’s.
The front of card looks like a regular standard card. It was actually quite quick to make. The background paper is from a 6” paper pack cut down and glued to the green card base – which starts out as two 8.5 x 5.5 pieces but folds up to the standard card size. The hill was die cut and the sentiment and glitter added. The sled was die cut and tucked in behind the hill. A candy cane sticker was added to it. The sideways view of a sled was stamped and some packages glued on top.
The surprise comes
when you pull the edges. This is what it looks like.
When you pull it
apart the left side unfolds and a piece slides up that was hidden between the
front and back of the card.
Jack’s card was
made the same way but with different paper – he is 15 so I had to keep it a
little more mature.
The background
paper is from a very old 12” paper pad. I just inked the edges with some Broken
China Distress Ink. As I looked at it more closely it dawned on me that the reindeer
reminded me of an old Tim Holtz reindeer die so I die cut one out of dark brown
cardstock and rub some clear glitter glue over it to sort of match the ones on
the designer paper.
When you pull this one apart the wiper part holds another deer.
The greeting for each card is on the back. Hope the boys liked them.
That’s all for a frigid cold Wednesday, December 18, 2019.
Cheers
Violet
