Flip Cards

I had a question from last Friday's post if a Summer Tanager was the same as a Scarlet Tanager - no. They are two completely different species of the tanager family. We get a few Summer Tanagers here in May as well but fewer than the Scarlet Tanagers.
We had one lovely spring like day on Saturday and then rain, rain and more rain after that. The rest of the week looks like it might be warm and dry though. Thank goodness Saturday was nice because it was the day we all donated non-perishable goods to stock the various food banks. It was so well organized it was incredible! Every city, town and village in the entire county took part…and it’s a huge county. We were to put out a bag or box of donations on the front step by noon and volunteers would pick it up. They had over 2000 volunteers and they collected thousands of pounds of food. We were advised not to greet the volunteers as we are still self-isolating here. It’s great to be living in such a giving and caring community.
This was Canada’s ‘May 24’ long weekend but with no camping; no beaches; no playgrounds; no nothing! It really didn’t feel like a holiday weekend. And then there was the tragedy of the Snow Bird Crash that killed one member of the team. It was a sad end to the weekend for sure.
But life goes on. I mentioned last week I was going to show you some flip cards this week. First I’ll show you the die from Sizzix I used and how to adjust it.
This is the die. It comes with many other small dies too.

But by doing this way you get a very small card like the one below.
This is not my original idea by the way. I saw someone do it on a YouTube video but it was so many years ago I cannot remember who it was.

But if you put the die on this way, it adds a flap.

And you get this type of card base

Now you can add a place to write a message and flip the right side over as well

This is the way it looks folded up.

and this how it looks opened up. I will be adding a message on the far right added panel. The smaller fancy label comes with die set. Some threads with tiny beads were wrapped around the extra fold. You can decorate any way you like but I kept it pretty simple.

I have some more cards to share along with some ‘oh no’s. Stay tuned.
That’s all for a very wet Monday, May-18-2020.

Cheers
Violet
PS: To save a card to your Pinterest account, simply hover over the image until the ‘Pin It” symbol appears and then click…it sometimes take a few seconds. This will take you to your own Pinterest account to save the card.
