Salvaging an Ooops!

We had our first snow yesterday! Okay, it was just a light flurry and it melted as soon as it hit the ground but it was definitely snow coming down. I’m so not ready for this!

Today’s card has lots of layers and additions. Hope I remember how I made it so I don’t miss a step!

This is a 5.5” square card. That fuzzy white on the red card base is actually handmade paper – but not by me….and it has small bits of leaves or some organic material in it. It’s pretty and I have quite a few pieces of it but have never used it. Now is the time to start using the stash! So, I wet the edges with water and then pulled it apart to leave the ragged edge – I read about doing this years ago and glad I remembered it. Then I added some liquid glue and glued it to the red card base….ooops. Big mistake. As soon as I added the glue I thought to myself, that glue is going to show. Myself was right. What a mess. It looked like worms under the paper. So, out went the original idea for the card. Time to salvage this one though.

I decided to stick with the red palette and cut another piece of the same red about 4.5” and used a snowflake punch to punch the corners. Then I used the same punch to punch out some white snowflakes from a piece of scrap cardstock. These were glued into the negative spaces. Okay, what next. I had this little girl already coloured up (very old Magnolia image) …coloured with pencils and blended with gamsol….. and decided to use it. First it was die cut with the Spellbinder’s oval die and mounted on the Spellbinder’s scalloped oval which was die cut out of gold cardstock. Then the trees were die cut and stamped with VersaMark and then heat embossesd with gold embossing powder. Then the banner was die cut and the gold peel-off sentiment was added. It actually turned out pretty cute and I may even make another one.

That’s all for a sunny but cool day here in Ontario on Monday, November-02-20 20.

Cheers

Violet
