Well so far March weather is very unpredictable. One day it’s above freezing and the next day its very cold again with a very cold wind blowing which makes it even colder. We just have to take it one day at a time.
Today’s card is another cut away card. I enjoy making these. Hope you like it.
All the paper is from a 6” paper pack that I’m trying to use up. I took a plain hot pink standard card and cut 1.5 inches off the bottom of the front flap. Then I turned it around and placed the fold at the 1.5” line on the paper trimmer and make a cut. This left 1.5” of hot pink at the top. Then I just cut a piece of clear plastic to go between. The plastic is actually from a presentation binder. We needed a new mat for under the computer chair so we had to go to Staples. While I was there I noticed a bin of presentation binders with a price of 7cents each. This is way cheaper than buying special clear plastic at a craft store and it works just fine. I bought about five of them - lots more of these type of cards to make now.
Once the front of the card was reattached with the plastic between the two white strips, it was time to decorate it. First there is a layer of black; then a layer of white and then a layer of the designer paper, each one cut 1/4” smaller than the other so a small border of each shows. Then I hand cut some of the flowers from the same paper pack and ran a gold pen around the edges of each one. The leaves were die cut from gold cardstock using a die from another set. They were stamped with black ink. Then the cluster was glued to a piece of die cut gold rope on the left side. The inside sentiment, ‘to wish you’ was stamped with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. The large ‘happy birthday’ is a gold peel-off. Overall, I’m quite happy with it.
That’s all for a mild Wednesday, March 3, 2021.
Cheers
Violet
