Christmas in July

I’m back! It’s been about a week since I posted anything and only because we have been so enjoying the summer weather that I’m too tired to be bothered turning the computer on when we get home. We go to Rondeau Provincial Park about two times a week and ride our bikes about 20km each time. Good exercise but tiring! And then there is the lawn and garden to keep up with.

If you are new to the blog or if you are a regular visitor but looking for other inspirations, don’t forget to pop over to where it says LABELS and click on it. It will bring up a list of posts under specific categories so if you can find Art Journal pages, scrapbook layouts, painting, mixed media pieces and a wide variety of types of cards. Have fun viewing older posts.

So many crafters are doing the Christmas in July bit and no big surprise, I am as well. A friend of mine brought me over a greeting card that she received from someone last year. The card had a bicycle on it and there was one on the inside as well. She asked me if I could make her two Christmas cards featuring the bikes because both her daughters were bike riders. I love a challenge. Here is one of the cards I came up with.

The greeting card was cut down to a more usable size and the edges were inked black by pulling a black pen down the sides.

Then it was mounted on the soft wine cardstock. The card front was the same soft wine as is the label holding the sentiment….all of which came from an old 6” card pack I had on hand. I found the wine with gold pattern in the stash and it worked well with the theme so the focal image was glued to it and then on to the soft wine and then on to the card base . The trees by the sentiment were on another part of the card so I hand cut them and glued them on as well. Stickles were glued to all the trees and the wreath to add some shimmer. It looks nothing like the original card so I was pleased with it and my friend was too. Whew!

I’ll post the second card another time.

That’s all for a hot and humid Monday, July-26-2021.

Cheers

Violet

PS: To save a card to your Pinterest account, simply hover over the image until the ‘Pin It” symbol appears and then click…it sometimes takes a few seconds. This will take you to your own Pinterest account to save the card.
