Its still Christmas in July time. Today I’m posting the second recycled bicycle Christmas card. The first one was posted on Monday so feel free to go scroll back to review it. The second bicycle picture on the inside of the greeting card was much smaller so I didn’t have much to work with. I rejected several of my ideas on how to make a beautiful card from such a small image but this is what I finally came up with.
The gold frame was die cut but there is another section on
top that just didn’t work with this card idea. It was too large and the focal
picture got lost in it. So, I cut the top section off and moved the top edge
down to this part. Then I realized that the portions in between were not
stitched so the top was different than the sides and bottom. Mmmmh. How to fix
that. I finally cut the top part off and glued it to this section so the
stitched edges would be consistent. You must look very, very closely to see where
it is joined. Then I went through the stash again and found this burgundy cardstock
that picked up the burgundy in the focal picture and made a card base from it.
More digging in the stash and I found that top piece that was pretty but not
overwhelming. Once everything was glued
down, gold stars were added here and there, and gold peel-off bits were glued
to the centre of the flower and around the bicycle. The sentiment is a gold
peel-off. My friend really liked it, so I was relieved.
That’s all for
another hot and humid and rainy Wednesday on July 28, 2021.
