Before I post today's post, I will answer the question from the last post about the hi-lites on the people. Sorry, I should have thought to include that. All I did was use a dauber and picked up some white pigment ink, took a bit off rubbing on a piece of scratch paper, and then going on the edges of the people before gluing them down.
Well, hopefully the computer will keep working long enough to get a post published! I’m not sure what’s wrong with it but likely just old and cranky, much like its owner…. or maybe it hates the cold weather, also much like its owner. We have a dusting of snow but nothing like parts of N.Y. and some parts of Ontario. Yikes, six feet of snow? Unbelievable. Earlier this week Joe looked out the front window and laughed. He said, one neighbour was cutting his grass and the next-door neighbour was gassing up his snowblower. Yup, the unpredictable Ontario weather. You must be prepared for anything and everything.
Today I’m posting a butterfly card - nothing special, just a card but after than I’m posting how I converted a butterfly cutout I would never use into three I will use. Three from one? Yes, keep on scrolling.
Like I said, this card isn’t all that special, nice as it is. It’s just the basic layering of some printed paper and adding a butterfly and peel-off sentiment. That butterfly came from a package of butterflies that I bought at the dollar store. But there were 2 in each package (okay, I bought four packages) that were about 6” in size. Scroll down to see what I did with them.
That large butterfly on the left is one of the ones that measure about 6”, which is way too big to fit on a card and I didn’t think I would even put it on a scrapbook page. I didn’t want to waste them though. So, after thinking about it for a few days…and getting annoyed seeing them every time I pull out a small butterfly, I decided to reduce the size of it.
The three butterflies on the right were actually die cut from that large butterfly. (ignore the odd colouring, bad lighting) First I cut the butterfly down each side beside the body an discarded the body and taped the two pieces together at the back. I used an old Memory Box die and die cut the butterfly shown on the top, right side. Then I did the same thing to die cut the bottom part of the butterfly to get the middle butterfly. There was still some of it left but not enough for the same die, so I pulled out a smaller butterfly die. After cutting a straight line between two matching halves and taping them together I got that small butterfly. Now, I will likely add some glitter or embossed gold to them, but they are now a workable size. So don’t be afraid to reconstruct your craft pieces.
That’s all for a very cold and windy Sunday, November 20, 2022.
Cheers
Violet
