Flower Inlay Card

Before I post the card, here is a hint for anyone new to my blog. If you want to search for anything in particular, go to the LABELS and scroll down to see what there is that might interest you. I have a lot of hobbies so you will find various cards, scrapbook pages, quilts, dolls, painting and more. Have fun and scroll away.

Here it is January 9, 2023, and we have no snow at all. It has not been bitter cold, like the experts predicted for January, but it has been overcast each and every day. We were sitting at the table this morning and I noticed the sun was coming in through the window and I remarked to Joe that it was the first time I’d seen the sun in weeks…. and just like that it disappeared again. I guess overcast is better than snow and cold!

Here is a card I made using some inlay for the flower petals. Not a quick card, but I enjoy making these.

The background is a piece of white cardstock but it needed a little something else, but not busy. So, a stencil and a little Distress Ink worked just fine. The flower was first die cut out of black cardstock; the outline was glued to the card base and the inside black petals were discarded. Then it was die cut again using multi-coloured yellow cardstock for the flower petals and green for the leaf. I carefully removed the die cut outline while pressing the flower petals and the leaf petals pieces onto a piece of Glad Press and Seal. That kept all the petals in the right order so with a bit of glue on the back they fit right into the black outline. It wasn’t quick and easy but not overly time consuming either. I added a few yellow/orangy gems and stamped the sentiment. It was mounted on a black card base.

That’s all for an overcast Monday, January 9, 2023.

   Cheers

Violet
