Two Nautical Cards

We’ve had such a busy weekend, I’m ready for bed already and its only 9:10pm. We had a 15km bike ride yesterday; a walk in the bush today and enjoyed the Monarch Butterfly festival at Rondeau. The Monarchs are migrating back to Mexico and some years we’ve seen hundreds of them roosting together overnight in the trees. Its quite a sight but you have to be lucky to find them. The weather was perfect yesterday and today up until about 4:15 when it started to rain, and rain hard….I think from the hurricane that also hit the Maritimes.

I’m posting two cards tonight because they are both in the clean and simple style, well sort of.

This is another image cut from the 12x12 designer cardstock. Scroll down to the last post to see the front and back of the 12x12 paper. Once again, it didn’t need a lot so it as adhered to the bright blue card base. Then the sentiment was die cut from the same blue as the card base and glued on. Three shiny blue foil lines were cut and added behind it.

So the second card being posted tonight and third card in the series, is just a wee bit more creative - but still not much. This image was on the back of the 12x12 so it was cut out 4x5.25 to fit on a dark brown card base that was 4.25 x 5.5….the standard A2 size. First I inked the edges with brown ink to give it a bit of a vintage look; then bakers twine was wrapped around and a bow tied. Then it was glued to the card base and some brown glass beads were added. I’ve had those beads for about 10 years and seldom remember to use them. The sentiment was die cut twice from brown cardstock and glued together before being glued to the card.  Still pretty simple card making but men seem to like simple cards.

That’s all for Sunday, September 17, 2023.

 Cheers

Violet

Ps: To save a card to your Pinterest account, simply over over the image until the “Pin It” symbol appears and then click …. be patient, it sometimes takes a few seconds. This will take you to your own Pinterest account to save the card.
