Wedding Cards in Gold and Silver

Another windy Monday. Saturday and Sunday were both days with temperatures way above normal for this time of the year (but the wind made it feel a little cooler) but it rained off and on Sunday during the day. After supper we were going to go to the Chatham Maroons hockey game here in town when I heard thunder – which Joe did not believe was thunder at first. I checked out the weather network and we got a nasty weather warning. It turns out that we were under a severe thunderstorm warning, with winds up to 100 km (62mph), possibility of a tornado cell forming, large damaging hail, and pounding rain. Okay time to rethink leaving the house! Turns out we got everything but the tornado and large hail but personally, I’m still glad we stayed home. The team won too so we missed a good game.

It is pretty much like Tim Holtz’ idea of covering chipboard with his aluminum tape but this fellow using drywall tape and silver tape from the hardware store instead. Today I’m posting two cards, exactly the same, except one is in gold, one in silver.

 

The sticker is one of the peel-and-stick kind that looked blah in the package but looks great on black cardstock. Honestly, where it is shiny metallic green, in the package its just plain white. I used a ticket punch to punch the corners on the black and then on a piece of gold paper. The background is from a wallpaper sample book. Once again, don’t use wallpaper on scrapbook pages as it is anything but acid free, but it is great for cards. I cut the wallpaper about ¼” smaller than the card base and then added a gold wavy strip from another peel-and-stick pack. The little flowers on the black cardstock came with the same set, as did the rings on the small piece of black. That piece was cut from the smallest die in the Spellbinder Peony die set and it is popped up with dimensional dots. Then I just added an ivory bow.

After Aqua Fit this morning I was able to finish quilting a quilt. Now its time to put the binding on and call it done!
