Yesterday
was a very busy day. In the morning we picked up my sister and drove to a quilt
shop in Dresden – a small town just east of Chatham – to check out some John
Deere fabric for a quilt I want to make for Finn…..who at age 6, has decided to
be a farmer when he grows up and will use nothing but John Deere tractors. We
have no idea where this idea came from because I don’t think he has ever even
visited a farm but he’s six so I guess that explains it. We did get the fabric
and had lunch out too. After we were home it was time to cut grass and do the
rest of the yard work and then a quick shower and supper because it was quilt
guild night. Super busy but a good day just the same.
Today
has been a quiet day. A friend popped in for a visit this morning and stayed
for lunch and then after lunch I walked to the nursing home and did some
visiting with the residents. When I got home I went down to do some
scrapbooking….which I’m heading back down to work on some more after I post
this.
Today’s
card is another one using the Penny Black poppy stamp. The card is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2. Square cards do not need extra postage in Canada.
This
one was stamped on water colour paper and was painted with Artist Loft water
colour paints – inexpensive set from Michaels. I added a bit of a wash using
the glimmer water colour paints and then added some clear Stickles for extra
shimmer. The butterfly is from another stamp set. The sky was splattered with clear
water while still wet to form those lovely ‘blooms’ as they are called. The
bottom was painted with green ink; shaded with Distress Ink and then
weeds/flowers/grass were stamped in green on top. I didn’t like it…..at all! So
I grabbed a piece of yellow velum and placed it on top – better but not quite right
yet – so I swiped some white paint in streaks across it; let it dry and placed
it over top – much better. Then the sentiment was stamped but it didn’t show up
very well so I went over it with a black gel pen. Sometimes my ideas work so
well and sometimes I have to work on the ideas and this card was one of the
latter. Once it was done, it was mounted on black cardstock and then on the
card base. Not my favourite but it’s okay. It meets the requirements for these challenges: www.seizethebirthday.blogspot.ca and www.happylittlestampers.com
Don’t
forget you are more than welcome to save any cards to your Pinterest account
for future reference. Simply place the curser over the picture until the
Pinterest save sign shows up in the top left corner and enter. This will take
you to your Pinterest account. If it doesn’t work, please leave a comment and
let me know. Thanks.
That’s
all for a hot and humid Thursday, – yes the first day of fall and the A/C is
on.
Cheers
Violet
This is such a pretty card, I really love the way you have water coloured this image. Thanks so much for playing along with us at Seize The Birthday :)
