Birds on a Branch Card

On Friday, November 20, it was so warm here in Ontario that Joe cut the grass and we cleaned the gutters and basically mucked around outside wearing only a shirt. Two days later we woke up to SNOW! It snowed pretty much all day but as the temperatures got above freezing it turned to wet snow/rain and the snow on the ground got slushy. What a mess. Here’s a picture of our backyard Sunday morning.

Today’s card is one of my favourites I think. I love this patterned paper but alas, I only had enough for this card and one other one. The designer paper was cut just a bit smaller than the card base so the light blue makes a border.

The birds were stamped and die cut and quickly coloured with Distress Ink that was smeared on an acrylic block and then painted using a water brush. The branch had summer leaves on it so they got cut off and stamped and hand cut stamped pine branches were added instead. I didn’t like them just sitting on a white circle so the cardstock was first run through an embossing folder that had the smooth side inked so the background was light blue but he snowflakes stayed white. Then it was glued to another Spellbinder’s die. The circle was only glued to half of the front of the card. The sentiment was stamped and embossed in white on a die cut stitched banner on light blue cardstock. It is adhered with a dimensional strip.

The card opens up to this.

The designer paper was placed on the right side only. I will be putting a personal note on white and placing it on the left. The circle was die cut again in the same blue and glued on the back so it looks nice and neat.

This was an easy card to make. Just make a standard card base that is top folding; place it on the side and cut off about a half of the front flap and decorate.

That’s all for a cool but sunny Monday on November 23, 2020. Yeah, the snow is melting!

Cheers

Violet
