Christmas Cards

Our heat wave continues and we are loving it! Temperatures could stay near 20C (69F) all winter as far as we are concerned…..but it won’t of course.  It was around 22C (over 70F) yesterday so we packed up a picnic lunch and drove along the river to our favourite picnicking spot. Unbelievable having a picnic in November in Ontario! I actually still have some daisy-like flowers and snapdragons still blooming and I just cut off the roses last week…except one that had just started to bloom. It’s been an odd year in more ways than one!

In spite of the current warm spell, I have been busy making Christmas cards. Here’s another one.

Sometimes I see a piece of an old donated card that I just love and I save it without any idea of what I’ll do with it. The Santa in the moon was one of these pieces. I decided to use it. So the first thing I did was to take a piece of white cardstock and sponged in the sky with blue ink. Then very tiny snowflakes were stamped all over the sky. A tree was inked with grey ink and stamped twice without re-inking about 2/3 of the way down the card. I wanted these to look like they were in the distance. Then a snow covered tree stamp was stamped with green ink here and there close to the bottom of the card so they would look closer.  More blue ink was sponged around for snow shadows.

A Spellbinder’s circle die was used to die cut a space for the moon to go. I have no idea why I decided the moon would be inserted and not just glued on top but that was my thinking at the time.  The sentiment was stamped and embossed in white on a die cut notched banner. Once the moon was taped to the back and the sentiment added I thought the card front was finished but it needed something else…..and two stamped bunnies was the perfect finishing touch.

That’s all for a very mild and sunny Monday on November 9th, 2020.

Cheers

Violet
