Another Recycled Christmas Card

We have just had a few days of beautiful fall-like weather instead of the bitter cold December weather we usually get about now. It’s been lovely being able to walk in the bush without snow, ice or slush. Tomorrow is a different story – rain all day and a little colder on Sunday but that’s okay, we are grateful for every day.

Today’s card is another recycled one. I don’t know why I enjoy making these but I do. I have so many dies and stamps I really don’t need to reuse old greeting cards but people drop them off to me and they are always interested in how I can reuse them.

The poinsettias were on an old greeting cards so I hand cut them apart and set them aside to work on the background. The background paper is a recycled envelope. I really liked it and it suited the flowers but then I realized the lines of the flaps were very visible. Rats! What to do. I know, add some gold peel-off lines. So, the envelope was glued to the card base and a solid gold peel-off line was glued down were the first fold was. Then I took some gold thread, wrapped it around my hand a few times; stuck it together in the middle with a glue dot and then glued it down where the flowers would be. Two of the flowers were glued flat but the white one was adhered with dimensional tape. (The holly came printed on the envelope and there are tiny gold thread-like lines on that side of the envelope as well)The sentiment is a peel-off. Then more gold peel-offs were added down on angle to hide the other fold lines; and another two just for decoration.

That’s all for a lovely mild day on December 11, 2020. Have a safe and wonderful weekend and I’ll be back next week with more cards.

Cheers

Violet
