Flowers on a Card

It’s a very hot and humid Friday here in Ontario. The temperatures have been hovering around 30C (86F) and it will be 33C (91F) tomorrow. This means there is also a chance of severe thunderstorms…..and it is a long weekend here in Canada called the Two-4. It used to be called Victoria Day after the Queen in England for her birthday from 1819 but over time it just got changed to the Two-4 weekend. Doesn’t matter. We are still in lock down here for another week or two. The parks are open though and we were hoping to go for a bike ride. We shall see.

Today’s card is another recycled card. A friend dropped off some old greeting cards and I get to reuse them.

The flowers were hand cut from the old greeting card. Here’s a hint anytime you need to hand cut an image that has small spaces - do the small spaces first so you have more solid spaces to hold on to keep it steady. So the areas between the stems were all cut out first and then the rest of the image. The background paper came from a 6” paper pack and it came already embossed. It was cut down to 4” x 5.25” so it would fit on the dark pink standard card base. It needed a buffer between the flowers and the background so a doily was cut in half and glued to the left side. Then the flowers were glued on. To cover the rough edge of the cut doily, a fancy silver peel-off line was added. There was a piece of the background left over so it was glued on for some dimension and a small gold sentiment was added. I do enjoy making these recycled cards.

That’s all for a very hot and humid Friday May 21, 2021. Have a wonderful, safe and creative weekend everyone.

Cheers

Violet

PS: To save a card to your Pinterest account, simply hover over the image until the ‘Pin It” symbol appears and then click…it sometimes take a few seconds. This will take you to your own Pinterest account to save the card.
