We have been having some beautiful weather again, more like summer than fall, which suits me just fine.
Today’s card is one that I have never made with this technique before. Here’s the card.
This card did not start out to look anything like this. The background was made by dipping white cardstock into a variety of blue inks that were smeared on my TH platform and sprayed with water. As long as you dry in between dips, you can keep dipping or swiping through the ink as many times as you like. Once I liked the coverage and it was dry, I splattered plain water on it; let is sit for a few seconds; and blotted with an old cloth. I love those water marks it makes. Then I used a hexagon die to die cut a section out of the blue. But when I went to use it for what I cut it out for, it didn’t fit….didn’t look right at all. So, then I said, “Oh gosh darn”…or something like that!!! and thought, what am I going to do now?
So, I decided to make a window card. I glued the blue onto a black card base and then went oh gosh darn again. I should have put plastic between them. I don’t use sketches and never really plan out what I’m doing so I have to improvise a lot! My own fault but that’s how I work.
So the plastic had to be cut out using the same hexagon and glued on top but then it needed a frame. So two hexagon dies were used to die cut the frame and it was glued on - both were adhered with slim double sided tape so I didn’t have to worry about wet glue oozing out. Note to self - put the plastic in before gluing the top paper on dummy! The poppies were die cut in black using a very old but much loved Memory Box die and it was glued on over the plastic. The black sentiment is a peel-off.
Well, as usual when I make a card, I figured it needed something else. It needed another sentiment on the inside that showed on the outside. So I stamped that small sentiment on the inside - which is on white paper, not pink. I have no idea why the camera turned it pink.
Then the inside looked blah. So, here’s how I fixed that!
Here’s the card opened up.
Another poppy was die cut and I glued it on right behind the one on the front. It looks like there is only one poppy on the front until you open the card and see the other one. So cool! I decided at this point to call it done.
That’s all for a lovely day….except we are under a thunderstorm watch right now….on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
Cheers
Violet
