Brrrrr. Its cold today….at least compared to the
weather on the first of the week. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday was so hot
it felt like summer and everyone had on shorts and T-shirts; Thursday it was
heavy hooded sweatshirts; today its fall jackets over top of sweatshirts. We
could get some frost tonight as well…..insert
big sigh here…the cold weather is here and only going to get colder. I’m so
much more of a summer person than a winter person.
My grandkids all love Halloween so I make them all
Halloween cards….well the youngest three anyway. The older two are a bit old
for cards but I do send them Halloween bookmarks.
Here’s Jack’s card for this year.
I love how this card turned out. I picked up this wavy
circle die on sale at the Paper Pickle, our local scrapbook store, and didn’t
realize at the time that they were not individual dies; and instead, you cut
out all of them at once…there are three or four more smaller dies yet but I
didn’t use them. In fact the last one is a flower…not very Halloweenish. So I
die cut one in black; one in purple plus a few other colours for the other
cards and then mixed and matched them. This die is so much fun!
First I took a piece of old bluish-purplish-greyish
piece of paper and stamped some Halloween images on it – labels, sayings, etc.
using purple ink so it would not be overwhelming. Then I grunged up the sides
and inked them in black drawing some of the black down into the paper. Then I
stamped the hat wearing skeleton in the middle in black and proceeded to add
the different layers of die cut cardstock around the image.
The bats (Sizzix) were all die cut and a
dimensional glue dot was placed behind them so the eyes would be white. I had
placed the bats just on the paper but they just weren’t effective enough but
the white eyes really made them pop. Then I die cut the ‘beware’ twice (another
Sizzix die) and glued them on top of each other to make it thicker and glued it
on under the circles. This was then glued onto a Kraft card base that had the
edges all inked in black.
That’s all for a cold and windy Friday, October
12, 2018. Have a safe and happy weekend everyone. I’ll be back on Monday with
another card.
Cheers
Violet
